Rising 7th & 8th Grade families, 

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we are excited to announce the registration process for your child's classes. On Monday, students will receive a paper registration form that is due on March 20th to their advisory teacher. Students are working on getting recommendations and signatures from their fine arts teachers. Students are expected to get a parent signature as well.

The following classes are those in which all students will be automatically registered based upon this years courses:

*Final Math placement will be determined after EOY iReady and EOG testing.

In addition to these core classes, your child will select one of the following Fine Arts courses of their choice. Students are required to get a signature and recommendation from the respective teacher for the class of their choice.

In addition to the required courses and fine arts class, each student will rank their top three elective choices from the following list. Elective assignments will be based on student preferences, teacher recommendations, and availability.

  • AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination )is a global nonprofit organization that operates with one guiding principle: Hold students accountable to the highest standards and provide the necessary academic and social support, and they will rise to the challenge. AVID supports students in learning organizational and study skills, working on critical reading/writing/thinking/speaking skills, getting academic help from peers, and participating in enrichment and motivational activities that make college seem attainable.  

  • We offer Project Lead the Way (PLTW) for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The middle school PLTW program offers hands-on explorations, encourages collaborative problem-solving, connects learning to real-world challenges, and provides valuable exposure to various career paths. 

  • The Financial Literacy curriculum for 8th grade students offers a comprehensive semester-long course designed to equip them with essential skills and knowledge to make informed financial decisions throughout their lives. Developed around the Intertwined Financial Literacy Curriculum, this course provides practical, hands-on learning experiences that are relevant and engaging for young learners.

  • The Service Leadership elective, utilizing the Lead4Change Middle School Curriculum, offers 7th grade students a unique opportunity to cultivate leadership skills through service-learning projects that make a positive impact in their community. This elective is designed to empower students to become proactive leaders who initiate meaningful change through collaboration, empathy, and action.

  • Reading/Math Momentum helps students strengthen their reading and math skills to meet grade-level standards. Through engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and personalized support, students will build confidence and improve their understanding of key concepts in both subjects.

  • Jazz Band will be offered again for band students who would like to further their improvisational skills.

Students who need additional support in reading and/or math may participate in Foundations of Reading/Math. Students who have an Individualized Education Program may be enrolled in courses specific to his or her learning needs.
