IC Imagine,

Since our return from Spring Break, campus has been alive with activity!  It is always rewarding to see students engaged in their learning, developing their friendships, learning how to be and become the best young people they can be, and exploring their creative side.

As for our teachers, they were able to participate in a variety of Professional Development offerings during the most recent Teacher Workday including:

  • Restorative practices (ways of creating community that honor the importance of relationships amongst all members in the community; as well as practices to repair relationships when harm has been caused)

  • Supporting Neurodiverse learners (Neurodiversity celebrates differences in brain function, promoting acceptance and support for neurodivergent individuals. Emphasis is placed on nurturing strengths and talents rather than conforming to a standard way of thinking.)

  • Universal Design for Learning (a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn)

As we move into the final two months of our school year, there is a lot going on!  The 8th graders spent last week in Washington, DC trip, Band & Chorus students traveled to Dollywood, and Lower School hosted Science Night last week.  Upcoming is the middle/upper school musical production of Mamma Mia!, band & chorus concerts, spring sports, Prom, and the Kingfisher Fun Run!

Speaking of Kingfisher Fun Run, please make sure you register at mybooster.com and begin sharing your personal link with your network of family and friends.  Our goal is to raise $25,000 towards the purchase of a digital sign, and we believe this is possible when we cast a wide net and ask for support from others.  Information about the Fun Run can be found on our website and additional communications will be coming via email, text, and social media.

In June, our students will be taking End of Grade Tests in grades 3-8, and End of Course and Final Exams in Upper School.  You will receive detailed communication about testing from your grade level/school.

Warmly,

Jenn Townley
