Lower School Newsletter

Lower School Families,

We have had a great week of learning in spite of the many changes to our schedule. We are looking forward to a great week next week and appreciate your continued support. For Friday’s (1/19) Remote Learning Day, all work is due Friday (1/26) for students to be counted present. If your third-fifth grade student needs a computer to complete their assignments, please work with their teacher to have one sent home on Monday.

After this week’s chilly weather, we want to remind you that we strive to go outside whenever it is safe to do so. We value children’s time outside and are committed to providing opportunities for unstructured play whenever we can. Accordingly, please be sure your student is prepared for the weather each day! Don’t forget to label their items so they can be returned to your student.

All our best, Jamie Williams & Ellen Girardi

Middle School Fundraiser

 Human Trafficking Prevention

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, which raises awareness about human trafficking and serves to educate the public about how to identify and prevent it. The Center for Safer Schools is doing its part by hosting eight simultaneous screenings of the film “Choices” across each of its eight educational regions.  The screenings will be held at several locations across the state on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  The Western location is Minitorium, 175 Bingham Road, Asheville.  Following the screenings, Center for Safer Schools staff will facilitate a discussion about the film and how it relates to human trafficking.  RSVP at https://forms.gle/gzmgVUiZAFWkiaRK7. If you have questions, send an email to cfss@dpi.nc.gov.

Enrollment Reminders

As we move into the enrollment season, we encourage you to spread the word about IC Imagine with your friends, family, and colleagues.  Please invite them to join us for Discovery Day on Saturday, February 24 from 9-12 and to check out our website to learn more about enrollment.  Stay tuned for how you can volunteer to support and be a part of Discovery Day! If you live somewhere, work for a company, or own a business where you can set out one of our enrollment yard signs, please stop by the office and grab one.  You can help us spread the word throughout the entire area.
