Kingfisher Trail

April 17, 2023 – It’s been a dream over five years in the making, and today, we are proud to announce the Kingfisher Trail is officially completed and ready for use!  This 3.2 mile cross country trail will be used by current and future generations of Kingfishers and we know it will provide a myriad of opportunities not found at any other school in western NC.

COMMUNITY USE OF THE TRAIL

All information about community use of the trail can be found below and on the trailhead kiosks. * Membership is Required.  Donations are welcome. *

The annual membership fee for individuals 18 years of age and older is $30/year.  Minors may be included with an adult membership.  A signed waiver is required for all community users and is completed online as part of the membership process. (To preview the waiver, click here.)

HOURS OF OPERATION

Weekdays: Sunrise – 7:15 am; 6:00 pm – Sunset
Weekends: Sunrise – Sunset

Trails are open to members during the above hours with the exception of events, weather closures and trail work. Observe posted trail closures.  To reserve the trail for an event, contact the school.

TRAIL LEGEND

  • Kingfisher Trail – 3.2 miles – intermediate

  • Woodland Loop (green) – intermediate

  • Belted Loop (blue) – intermediate

  • Nest Loop (yellow) – beginner

  • Common Loop (orange) – intermediate

TRAIL USE EXPECTATIONS

  • Membership is required.

  • Possession or use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and vaping products are not permitted on the IC Imagine campus.

  • Weapons are not permitted on the IC Imagine campus.

  • Access trail only at trailhead kiosks.

  • Leave no trace.

  • Leashed pets only.

  • Helmets required for cyclists.

  • Stay off trails when wet.

  • E-bikes are not allowed.

  • No motorized vehicles.

  • Night riding is prohibited.

  • Anyone younger than 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Respect user groups assigned to the trail.

TRAIL USE ETIQUETTE

  • It is always safer to ride with a partner.

  • Bikers yield to pedestrians.

  • Downhill yields to uphill.

  • Announce “passing on left”.

  • Do not create new trails.

  • Pick up and dispose of pet waste.
