Mountain Biking (MTB)

Kingfisher MTB is one of the sports unique to IC imagine.  We are one of a few schools in Buncombe County dedicated to offering this sport to its students.  Kingfisher MTB is a member of the North Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League and all races are organized through NCICL.  The interscholastic MTB season begins late fall and runs through May.

  • October 1, 2024 - Student-Athlete Registration Opens

  • Date TBD - Informational Meeting at 3:30 pm at the picnic tables

  • December 1, 2024 - First Day of the 2024-25 Season

  • January 15, 2025 - Registration Closes

2025 MTB Season (Grades 6-12)

Kingfisher MTB is starting up its 9th season in January for grades 6-12.  Please fill out this MTB Team Form to be a part of the team.  

All levels of riders are welcome and encouraged.  We have some loaner bikes so if you don't have a bike and want to be part of the team send an email to see if we have a bike that will work for your athlete.

Practices

  • January

    • 2 - 4:30 pm

    • Wednesdays - on campus

  • February thru May

    • 3:45 - 5:30 pm

    • Tuesdays at Bent Creek

    • Thursdays on campus

    • Occasional weekend practices at different trails in WNC

Races

  • 5 races throughout the state starting in March

  • Season ending adventure event in Charlotte on 6/1
