After School Opportunities

Throughout the year, IC Imagine offers a variety of after school clubs and programs to enrich student's learning experiences. Due to the extracurricular nature of these programs, there is a cost associated with each.

Battle of the Books

  • What: Reading club

  • Who: 4th & 5th graders

  • When: Weekly on Tuesdays, September through June

  • Time: end of school until 4 pm

  • Enrollment: 20 students maximum

  • Cost: $125

  • Advisor: Pete Hutchens

  • Participant fees will be assigned in Infinite Campus in September.

Soccer Shots

  • What: Soccer

  • Who: Kindergarten Only

  • When: Tuesday - 9/3, 9/10, 9/17, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29 (Rain Date: 11/7)

  • Time: end of school until 3:45 pm

  • Cost: $160

  • Advisors: Staffing directly from Soccer Shots

  • Registration is done directly with Soccer Shots

MTB Club

  • What: A 6-week program that includes mountain biking instruction, riding, and games, led by our MTB Coaches and students from the MTB team.  Participants will be taught beginner and intermediate mountain bike skills, play games and ride the Kingfisher Trail. This club is intended to get kids more comfortable on bikes, learn new skills, and get them ready for MTB trails or to join the MTB team in the Winter.  All participants need to know how to ride a bike and be comfortable getting on and off the bike.  This is not learning to ride a bike class. 

    A snack will be provided.  All athletes need a bike with hand brakes, helmet, water bottle and appropriate clothing to attend.

    Wednesdays from 9/4 - 10/16

    • No session on 9/25 (Fall Break)

    • Rain Date: 10/23

  • Time: 

    • Grades 1-5 - 2:45 - 5:00 pm

    • Grades 6-8 - 3:30 - 5:30 pm

  • Advisors: MTB Coaches Erin Barrett and Suzy Smoyer, along with other MTB coaches and parent volunteers

Lacrosse Shots

  • What: This program introduces students to the game of lacrosse through fun skills and scrimmages.  Lacrosse sticks and tennis balls are used, so no pads, helmets or other equipment is necessary.  Equipment is provided.

    • Who: 3rd, 4th & 5th graders

    • When: Thursdays - 9/12, 9/19, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17

    • Time: end of school until 4 pm

  • Session 2:

    • Who: 6th, 7th & 8th graders

    • When: Thursdays - 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21

    • Time: end of school until 4:30 pm

  • Enrollment: Limited to 30 students

  • Cost: $30

  • Advisors: Staffing directly from Asheville Empire Lacrosse.

AMOS

  • What: Hands-on science exploration

  • Who: K - 5th graders

  • When: Wednesdays; sessions last 5 weeks

    • K-2: Fall - 9/11, 9/18, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16

    • 3-5: Fall - 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20

    • K-2: Winter - 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, 2/26

    • 3-5: Spring - 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 4/9, 4/16

    • K-2: Spring - 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21

  • Time: end of school until 4:15 pm

  • Enrollment: 20 students maximum

  • Cost: $75/session

Lower School Musical

  • What: An opportunity for students to explore the art of musical theatre!

  • Who: K through 5th graders

  • When: Auditions in November; daily practices Jan - March 11; Performances March 12 & 13

  • Time: End of school until 4:15 pm

  • Cost: $100

  • Advisors: Nicole Cummings & Rebecca Nilo

  • Registration and payment will be done through Infinite Campus.

Orff Ensemble

  • What: Participants will sing, say, dance and play musical instruments after school.  This is a great club for students who love music class and want to perform!

  • Who: 4th & 5th graders

  • When: typically two days a week in the Spring (April - June)

  • Time: End of school until 3:30 pm

  • Enrollment: 24 students maximum

  • Cost: $25

  • Advisor: Nicole Cummings

  • Registration will open on Infinite Campus when ready

Recorder Club

  • What: Participants will learn to play the recorder, a real woodwind instrument that is hundreds of years old! This is a great club for students who love music class and want to learn a musical instrument!

  • Who: 3rd graders

  • When: typically two days a week in the Spring (April - June)

  • Time: End of school until 3:30 pm

  • Enrollment: 25 students maximum

ASCEND

ASCEND is the school's after school program for families who need childcare until 6 pm. More information can be found on the ASCEND webpage.

Athletics

Students can begin participating in interscholastic sports through our athletics program in 6th grade. Kingfisher Athletics offers also opportunities for lower school students at various times during the year. For more information, visit the Athletics webpage.
